In demonstrating less intelligence than a dog, Boston Herald sports writer Tony Massarotti has decided to bite the hand that feeds him by attacking Boston sports fans. In defending fellow fiction writer John Tomase, who was lambasted for his shoddy story the day before the Super Bowl, Massarotti has sunken to new lows. He refers to Boston sports fans as “yahoos, hero worshipers and gutless suck-ups” and “pathetic, repressed middle-aged neighbors wear their Tedy Bruschi jerseys on Sundays.”
It’s funny because if it were not for these fans, Massarotti would be reading children’s books during story hour at the local library. John Tomase is a hack, but at least he apologized. Massarotti on the other hand saw fit to lash out at the fans for his own shortcomings and those of his tabloid newspaper. These are the very same fans who he begs to buy his crap books. Here’s a newsflash Massarotti, the Boston Herald does not pay your salary, the fans do. Without them there would be no newspaper, you would not have a job and the world would probably be a better place. So take your elitist attitude and go find another town to work in, because you are finished in Boston.
It is bad enough that the Boston Herald employs writers who fabricate stories and lie to their readers but now they feel the need to insult them as well. What’s next? Are the Herald paper boys going to start slashing its subscriber’s tires?
In closing, ponder this question, who is more pathetic? A man who has a career and also has a hobby, or man whose career is to write about other men’s hobbies?
